CNOs offer nursing recruiting tips
AONL members Cassie Lewis, Lisa Dolan and D’Andre Carpenter offered recruiting tips to CNOs. Lewis, DNP, RN, CNO for the Bon Secours health system’s Richmond, Va., market, says hospitals should offer unique programs to draw applicants. Bon Secours offers a residency program in which new graduate nurses can rotate between different units to determine which one would be a good fit. Dolan, BSN, RN, CNO at Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services, suggests emphasizing promising career paths available to nurses and forming academic partnerships. Carpenter, DNP, RN, senior vice president and CNE at Allina Health in Minneapolis, urges CNOs to tap into diverse communities that often face barriers to becoming health professionals, as well as to provide a healthy workforce balance and growth opportunities.
