CNOs Discuss 2025 Nurse Recruitment Tactics
To recruit and retain novice nurses, health systems should offer enticing hiring packages with benefits and flexibility, as well as strengthen transition to practice programs, members of a CNO panel said. Human resources should streamline the job application and hiring process. With Gen Z prioritizing social issues, CNOs should be transparent about their health system’s positions, offer volunteering and community outreach opportunities and be well-versed in social media to attract candidates who will use technology to research organizations. CNOs should tell authentic stories about nurses online, including how their health systems are improving the profession. Panelists included AONL members Gail Vozzella, DNP, RN, CNO at Houston Methodist, and Larry Adams, MSN, RN, CNE and senior vice president of strategy at CareRev in Los Angeles.
