CMS launches model aimed at improving dementia care
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services named 390 participating organizations in an improving dementia care model that started on July 1. The Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model seeks to reduce strain on unpaid caregivers. It provides care coordination and management, in addition to caregiver education and support and respite services. CMS will test an alternative payment for participants delivering key support services to people with dementia. The Biden-Harris Administration also announced an investment of over $200 million to help primary care nurses and other providers improve older adult care (CMS article, 7/8/24)
