CDC updates guidance on PPE, work restrictions after SARS-CoV-2 exposure
Recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded options for source control and patient care activities in areas of moderate to substantial transmission of COIVD-19 and described strategies for improving the fit of face masks. The guidance also includes a hierarchy of strategies to implement when personal protective equipment is in short supply. A separate CDC update clarified restricting certain asymptomatic health care personnel who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection in the prior 3 months might not be necessary. Restricting the work of fully vaccinated personnel with a higher-risk exposure continues to be recommended.
