CDC orders withdrawal of studies with inclusive terms
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention instructed its scientists to retract or pause the publication of research manuscripts under consideration by journals to comply with the Trump Administration’s order to not use certain terms including “gender, transgender, pregnant people, LGBT and nonbinary.” The order pertains to manuscripts under revision and those already accepted for publication but not published. Separately, the CDC restored some files it had purged from its website following criticism from health stakeholders and the public. The files taken down included guidelines on contraception, race, health disparities, vaccine information and a database containing HIV data. (MedPage Today article, 2/1/25)
