CDC issues guidance affecting health care personnel
This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) posted guidance for health care personnel in the areas of testing, staffing shortages, infection control and exposure at work to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Workers with signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and who have had high-risk exposures remain a priority for testing. The exposure guidance for resumption of contact tracing and application of work restrictions to be considered in areas where spread in the community has decreased has been simplified. The guidance also includes contingency staffing strategies for health care facilities and a wide range of infection control recommendations for individuals and institutions.
