CDC guide will address health care worker burnout
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week released an evidence-informed and actionable guide for hospital leaders to improve worker well-being. The guide ─ part of the first federal campaign to address health care worker burnout ─ provides actions for hospitals to improve their employees’ mental health. Pilot-tested at six CommonSpirit Health hospitals, the action steps include conducting an operations review; building a dedicated team to support professional well-being; removing barriers to seeking care; and creating a 12-month plan to advance professional well-being work. The CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation designed the guide. (CDC news release, 3/18/24)
