Boston Medical Center improves mental health access
An American Hospital Association podcast describes how Boston Medical Center developed its Health Equity Accelerator to advance health for its patient population, including increasing access to behavioral health services. In 2020, hospital leaders identified clinical areas with the highest rates of health disparities and vowed to close gaps within two years. To increase access to mental health care, BMC offers mental health services at community health centers and public schools. Mental health counselors use the system’s electronic health records to coordinate care with patients’ primary care providers.
