Board Service Enables Nurse Leaders to Improve Health

The Nurses on Boards Coalition encourages AONL members to serve on boards to improve health and health equity. In the September issue of Voice of Nursing Leadership, NOBC Chair Emeritus Kimberly Harper, MSN, RN, and Executive Director Laurie Benson, BSN, RN, encourage nursing leaders to select organizations they are passionate about and would benefit from their skills, experience and qualifications. Leaders should prepare a cover letter, along with a one-page board profile that emphasizes where their knowledge and experience are strongest. Leaders interested in serving on boards should visit the NOBC website or contact Harper or Benson. As of May 1, 2024, more than 11,000 nurses were serving on boards, according to NOBC data.
