Bill provides historic increases to Title VIII, NINR funding

On July 15, the House Appropriations Committee approved the FY 2022 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education funding bill by a vote of 33-25. If fully enacted, this funding bill would provide historic increases for nursing-related programs. The bill includes a $50 million increase in Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and a $25 million increase for the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) over FY 2021 funding levels. Currently, the House is expected to take up this funding bill as part of a legislative package as early as next week. (AACN’s Washington Weekly article, 7/15/21)
