Begley Discusses Retention Strategies
In an interview with HealthLeaders Media, AONL CEO Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, describes how hospitals and health systems are pursuing near- and long-term solutions such as upskilling, collaboration and nontraditional support to recruit and retain nurses. Begley, who also serves as CNO and senior vice president of workforce at the American Hospital Association, said some health systems are offering financial support to attract individuals interested in nursing to receive the required education in return for working at the system for a specified period. Health systems also are offering flexible schedules, internal travel programs and paid clinical rotation models for students. In addition, some hospital systems subsidize housing for their employees.
