Article explores patient experience drawbacks
Four patient experience drawbacks hospitals should address are patient discrimination, making patients coordinate their care, not providing follow-up on diagnostic tests after telehealth appointments and keeping patients for extended lengths of stay. These drawbacks were identified in HealthLeaders Media analysis. Among the recommendations for hospitals are offering comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion programming and culturally competent care training to their workforce. Small hospitals can assign nurses to navigate health care services, and larger hospitals can employ care managers, community health workers and nurse navigators to coordinate patient care. In addition, hospitals should provide effective follow-up services for patients after telehealth appointments. (HealthLeaders Media article, 12/13/23)
