Academy offers next generation leadership development

Nursing leaders at New York-Presbyterian Health System, New York City, started a leadership academy to address pandemic-related nursing leadership challenges and fortify leaders with the requisite AONL competencies. The August issue of Nurse Leader details the New York-Presbyterian Nursing Leadership Academy’s structured mentoring, masterclasses, workshops and experiential learning for comprehensive leadership development through two distinct options: a six-month track for patient care directors and a three-month track for clinical nurse managers. Participants learn about effective communication and other needed skills. Participants say the program has improved their leadership skills, confidence and engagement, with many participants advancing in their careers.
