AONL award winner details health equity initiatives

An article in the December issue of Nurse Leader details how Our Lady of the Lake Health champions programs aimed at improving the lives of its diverse patient population and employees. The Baton Rouge, La.-based health system received the 2023 AONL Prism Award, which recognizes an organization that is a leader in advancing diversity and inclusion efforts within the nursing profession, a health care organization or its community. Among its initiatives, the health system hosts a six-week Dialogue on Race program for its leadership and team members to address the systems and structures of institutional racism. In addition, the system addresses social needs by collaborating with community partners to make fresh, healthy food affordable and available to community members.
