AONL Remembers Burnes Bolton

AONL mourns the passing of Linda Burnes Bolton, DrPH, RN. A former AONL president and leader in numerous other organizations, Burnes Bolton was an AONL Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. She elevated nursing’s role at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai for more than half a century, inspiring generations of nurses while advancing nursing, health care policy and equity. Burnes Bolton began her career as a staff nurse in labor and delivery and later worked as the health system’s CNO, senior vice president and chief health equity officer. Burnes Bolton “guided us with wisdom and grace,” said AONL President Deb Zimmermann, DNP, RN, and AONL CEO and American Hospital Association CNE and Senior Vice President Claire Zangerle, DNP, RN, in a letter to AONL members. “She brought innovative ideas and a relentless drive for improvement that benefitted all who had the privilege of working alongside her.” (Cedars Sina news release, 1/11/25)
