AONL Issues Advocacy Alert on Rejecting Medicaid Cuts

AONL urges nurse leaders to contact their elected representatives to ask them to reject Medicaid cuts. Leaders should explain how cuts to Medicaid and other programs would reduce access to care and services for patients in their communities. The American Hospital Association has a number of resources on this issue, including an infographic and fact sheet. When Congress reconvenes in May, House and Senate committees will begin drafting legislation consistent with their instructions from the budget resolution. The House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has primary jurisdiction over Medicaid, has been instructed to reduce deficits by not less than $880 billion, putting significant Medicaid cuts on the table. AONL members can become more involved in advocacy by attending for AONL’s Advocacy Day June 2-3 in Washington, D.C. (AONL Advocacy Alert, 4/17/25)
