AONL, George Washington University partner to offer media program
AONL and George Washington University conducted a pilot program with 20 CNOs to improve their communication and media engagement strategy skills. Described in the April issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration, the pilot sought to build nurse leaders’ capacity to develop a strategic communication strategy that reflects and articulates nurse expertise and contributions that lead to clinical care improvements. The program addresses strategic communications competencies identified in the AONL Nurse Leader Competencies. Despite their expertise, few nurse executives are asked to engage with the media. This program will continue to be offered in an effort to increase the number of nurse leaders who contribute as media sources.
