AONL DEIB efforts help with organizational sustainability
An article in the April issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration describes AONL’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Guiding Principles and its DEIB Toolkit. The authors also discuss DEIB’s importance to nursing leadership and its larger implications for transforming nursing practice. The DEIB Guiding Principles emphasize the critical role of leadership in championing DEIB, the necessity of fostering inclusive practice environments, the potential of strategic partnerships and using technology, data and research to advance DEIB culture. The toolkit includes a comprehensive nurse leader assessment tool, case studies and an action-oriented framework to advance DEIB. Nurse leaders who champion DEIB can ingrain principles into organizational policies, leading to systemic change and ensuring all individuals receive the care they need.
