AHRQ launches maternal health indicators
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality released Maternal Health Indicators to permit state organizations, payers, researchers, health care providers and others to track maternal morbidity trends. Individuals can use the information to develop population health improvement strategies and conduct epidemiological or research studies using billing or claims data. AHRQ developed the indicator software based on input gathered earlier this year from local and state health officials, health care system leaders, hospital associations, researchers and professional organizations. Organizations may compare their maternal health indicators to nationwide benchmarks. AHRQ will collect feedback and refine the indicator software. (AHRQ blog article, 10/30/24)
