AHA urges Congress to support health care workforce funding

The American Hospital Association urged leaders of the Senate and House Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education to prioritize funding in fiscal year 2025 for health care programs shown to improve access to quality health care. To address nursing workforce challenges, the AHA supports $1.51 billion for Title VII health professions and Title VIII nursing workforce development programs for FY 2025. The AHA seeks $210 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research. In addition, the AHA requests at least $45 million for the Preventing Burnout in the Health Workforce program. The AHA also seeks funding to help hospitals prepare for and respond to emergencies, improve maternal and child health, and eliminate health disparities. (AHA Senate letter, 5/13/24)
