AHA releases poster on maternal mental health

The American Hospital Association released a poster in People Matter, Words Matter series focusing on using compassionate language when discussing maternal mental health. The AHA notes that studies have shown that people with psychiatric and/or substance use disorders often feel judged, outside and inside the health care system. This can lead them to avoid, delay or stop seeking treatment. The poster series help clinicians and others to adopt patient-centered, respectful language.
