AHA, Others Release Additional Guidance for Resuming Elective Surgery
Building on earlier guidance for safely resuming elective surgery, the American Hospital Association (AHA), the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses and AdvaMed today released additional advice to support the safe reentry of medical device representatives into hospitals and other surgical facilities. Among the key recommendations, hospitals should provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical device representatives essential to invasive procedures rather than having them provide their own PPE; and COVID-19 diagnostic testing should be prioritized for patients, symptomatic health care workers and those with known or suspected exposures rather than for routinely testing asymptomatic company representatives.
