AHA offers resources to prevent workforce suicide
To commemorate Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the American Hospital Association highlighted resources to support the health workforce’s mental health and well-being. An AHA guide provides a list of 12 evidence-informed interventions hospitals can implement to reduce the suicide risk among employees. A video features Daryl Tol, MHA, former CEO of AdventHealth Central Florida, who discusses his struggle with anxiety and why leaders must eliminate stigma around employees discussing their mental health. A Leadership Dialogue highlights Robert Brady, PhD, who leads the Anxiety Disorders Service at Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, N.H. The AHA offers People Matter, Words Matter posters, including one on using destigmatizing language about suicide. Separately, an AHA podcast explores how one hospital is preventing suicide in a Wisconsin farming community. (AHA Chairperson’s File article, 9/23/24)
