AHA blog discusses family support for infant illness or loss

An American Hospital Association blog describes how Dell Children’s Medical Center, Hand to Hold and Northwest Community Healthcare support families affected by infant loss or a neonatal intensive care unit admission. The partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin and Hand to Hold ─ a Texas-based organization that provides evidence-based, personalized support before, during and after a neonatal intensive care stay ─ brings support services to parents with a baby in the NICU. An integrated mental health team, along with nurse navigators, assess family needs and connect them with resources. Northwest Community Healthcare, a health system located in Evanston, Ill., offers an infant loss and bereavement program that has expanded to other hospital departments. (AHA Blog article, 5/12/23)
