AHA blog details emergency preparedness priorities
An American Hospital Association blog lays out three emergency preparedness priorities: strengthening cross-sector partnerships, building workforce capacity and resilience, and fostering a culture of preparedness. Health care leaders should develop strong partnerships before an emergency occurs with public health, fire/EMS, law enforcement professionals, as well as nontraditional, trusted organizations within their communities ─ such as religious organizations, civic groups and universities. Health care leaders can integrate resilience programs and crisis leadership training into organizational workforce development plans to build capacity and resilience. Last, leaders can normalize a culture of preparedness by engaging and investing in their organization’s emergency management program. The AHA released a resource for health leaders on disaster and emergency preparedness. (AHA blog, 12/15/22)
