AHA, AONL, NCC offer workforce solutions to Senate committee
The American Hospital Association and AONL this week responded to a Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee request for information on the drivers of health care workforce shortages and potential solutions with a letter recommending the committee invest in nursing education and faculty, pass violence prevention measures, invest in maternal health and support clinician mental health. The AHA and AONL also recommended the committee offer support for foreign-trained health care workers, increase workforce diversity and investigate travel nurse practices. The Nursing Community Coalition responded to the request with a letter, signed by AONL and the 62 other NCC members, urging the Senate HELP Committee to take actions to invest in nursing education and workforce development programs, remove practice barriers for advanced practice registered nurses and make pandemic health waivers permanent.
