AHA, ANA, AMA call on Americans to ‘celebrate responsibly’
In an open letter to the American people, three organizations representing health professionals on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, this week called on Americans to celebrate holidays responsibly. The American Hospital Association, the American Nurses Association and the American Medical Association noted positive cases have consistently spiked after past holidays, and health systems in many areas of the country are already under strain. Avoiding gatherings and adhering to other science-based public health measures is the best way to prevent health care systems from being overwhelmed, they wrote. “We must protect the doctors, nurses and other caregivers who have tirelessly battled this virus for months. You can do your part to ensure they can continue to care for you and your loved ones,” they concluded.
