AARP and RWJF grant $700,000 in equity awards
The AARP Center for Health Equity through Nursing and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action provided $700,000 in equity awards to 16 projects. The projects offer promising solutions aimed at eliminating structural inequities, particularly structural racism, within the nursing profession, health systems or community. The projects also will improve access to care and services for people most disproportionately impacted by health disparities. In addition, the projects support the advancement of one or more of the recommendations in the National Academy of Medicine report, The Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity. Cedars-Sinai Health System in Los Angeles and Meritus Health in Hagerstown, Md. were among the award recipients. The Campaign for Action is an initiative of the AARP Foundation, AARP and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. (Campaign for Action news release, 1/10/23)
