AAN recognizes Simpson with prestigious award
AONL member Roy Simpson, DNP, RN, is among those to be honored this month by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN). The professor and assistant dean for technology management at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in Atlanta will receive AAN’s prestigious President’s Award, which recognizes an individual who has made extraordinary, lifelong contributions to improving the health of individuals, families or communities. Simpson will be honored for his informatics work, said AAN, which “has made a critical impact on health care delivery and organizational change, especially through his innovative development of the Nursing Minimum Data Set, which has allowed for the standardized collection of essential data, a linchpin for systems optimization.” (AAN news release, 9/29/21)
