NCC backs amendment to recognize nurses who served in WWII
The Nursing Community Coalition (NCC), to which AONL belongs, sent a letter to the chairs of the House of Representatives Rules Committee in support of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act. Amendment #257, introduced by Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., would recognize and honor the service of individuals who served in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. “From 1943 to 1948, nearly 120,000 nurses answered our nation’s call and honorably served to care for our servicemen and women during World War II,” the letter states. “As the average age of these nurses increases, it is imperative that this amendment moves forward to recognize their invaluable service.” (NCC letter, 7/8/19)
