NAM meeting explores nursing’s future in the digital age
Tech sector and nursing leaders explored the theme High Tech to High Touch during the last of three regional meetings designed to inform a National Academy of Medicine (NAM) study on The Future of Nursing 2020-2030. In addition to describing nursing models incorporating digital technologies, panelists and audience members focused considerable attention on the question of whether high-tech health care would advance the health of all Americans or create new barriers to accessing care for large segments of the population. Panelists echoed calls made during two earlier meetings for more preventive interventions and better data collection to capture nursing’s roles and the effectiveness of various care models. Speakers also urged the NAM committee to consider how nurses can make more time for self-care. (Campaign for Action story, 8/15/19)
