Hospitals find mobility managers cost effective

A report from the AARP Public Policy Institute describes the work of mobility managers who help customers solve their transportation needs using a variety of services and strategies. Federal funding is available to support the use of mobility managers, who primarily serve older adults and people with disabilities. The report profiles several community transportation programs including Missouri-based HealthTran. Participating clinics and hospitals providing free rides to patients earned a strong return on their investment by reducing missed appointments and increasing their insurance reimbursements.
