CMS seeks input on reducing administrative burden

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a request for information seeking new ideas to advance its Patients over Paperwork initiative, which aims to reduce administrative burdens in order to free up health system resources for the delivery of high-quality care. The CMS is requesting ways to reduces burdens associated with areas such as: reporting and documentation requirements; coding and documentation requirements for Medicare or Medicaid payment; and prior authorization procedures. The last day to submit comments is Aug. 12. (CMS news release, 6/6/19)
