Behavioral health diagnoses double from 2007 to 2017
A white paper on national behavioral health trends during the decade beginning in 2007 examines the period following the 2008 passage of the Mental Health Parity Act and the 2010 passage of the Affordable Care Act. In preparing the report, published by not-for-profit FAIR Health, researchers analyzed International Disease Classification codes in 28 billion private health care claim records. The authors found that behavioral health and substance use disorder diagnoses increased from 1.3 or 2.7 percent of all medical claim lines. (Modern Healthcare story, 5/20/19)
