AONL Leaders Share Anti-violence Efforts at International Meeting
AONL CEO Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, and AONL President Mary Beth Kingston, PhD, RN, joined thousands of nurses in Singapore last week for the International Congress of Nurses (ICN) meeting. The ICN is a federation of more than 130 national nursing associations representing more than 20 million nurses worldwide. The group’s annual congress provides an opportunity for nurses to build relationships across borders and disseminate nursing knowledge. Begley and Kingston took part in a reception hosted by the Tri-Council for Nursing, an alliance of AONL and other leading U.S. nursing organizations, and presented a poster on AONL’s efforts to combat violence against health care professionals. The director-general of the World Health Organization addressed the gathering, stating, “It’s time to go beyond health care to health: nurses and midwives are an essential part of that transformation to lead this work.” More information about the presentations is available on the ICN website.
