Celebrating 50 Years in 2017

In 1967, a collection of nurse administrators from the AHA Council of Nursing organized themselves into a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association with a mission to create a professional home for nurse leaders.

Fifty years later, AONL is the preeminent organization for nurse leaders. Echoing the founders’ aims to develop the profession of nursing leadership, today the organization represents nearly 10,000 members from across the health care spectrum.

AONE & StoryCorps

In celebration of our 50^th Anniversary, AONL collaborated with StoryCorps, a national oral history project, to capture members’ stories about AONL and their nursing leadership journeys.
