Accelerating Nursing, Transforming Healthcare

AONL partnered with Johnson & Johnson and the American Nurses Association to conduct quantitative and qualitative research to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nursing community.

This study will help the nursing profession understand the factors that optimized nurses’ impact to improve human health and chart a path forward to enable this momentum far into the future, so that the nursing workforce is well prepared to lead and help meet the evolving needs of our health care system.

Individual Research

Includes intrapersonal barriers, changes at the individual level, self-perception and self-efficacy.

Health System Steps

Relates to the workplace, structures, policies that contain the work of nurses; also spans health systems and clinics, including colleagues, managers and leadership.

Community Invovlement

Relates to broader public opinion, which includes patients, along with community groups and leaders; external goodwill and skepticism exist at the societal level.

Policy Actions

Includes rules and regulations, public and private, that enable or limit practice at all levels: organization, local, state and federal.
