AHA supports bipartisan legislation to ease hospital staff shortages
This week, the American Hospital Association (AHA) informed Congressional leaders of the Association’s support for legislation to ease hospital staff shortages. The Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act (H.R. 2255/S. 1024), which AONL also supports, is a bipartisan effort to expedite the visa authorization process for qualified international nurses to support hospitals facing staffing shortages. “Ensuring an adequate supply of physicians and nurses during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is paramount,” AHA said in a letter to the bill’s House and Senate sponsors. Last year, AONL and AHA encouraged Congress to include the act in COVID-19 relief legislation. (AHA letters, 5/5/21)
