As RN resources are more strained than ever, the role of the clinical technician is a key component to RN retention and care delivery. By designing a program that incentivizes clinical technicians to up-skill and take an enhanced role in completion of highly technical skills such as 12 Lead EKGS and phlebotomy they enable the nurse to perform higher level functioning at top of licensure. Added retention and creation of a feeder for new graduate RNs have been some of the benefits realized.
